     Plate XLII in DJD IX is derived from PAM 43.291, which is clearly reproduced in the Microfiche and Facsimile editions. Fragment 4 of 4Q121 can also be found depicted PAM image 42.039.

     See the shaded area on fragment 4 of the image below. This alpha is found in the word Israhl in Numbers 3:42. The serif is a separate stroke, but it extends primarily outwards to the left.
     See fragments 1, 7, 12, and 19 on Plates XLII and XLIII of DJD IX. The alpha on fragment 7 is particularly good example, and is also clearly visible on PAM 43.291.
     P. J. Parsons, on pages 7-12 of DJD IX, describes the palaeography and dating of all six Greek manuscripts found in Qumran Cave 4. On pages 8 and 9, he shows typical examples of letters from each of the manuscripts. The examples for 4Q121 are shown in figure 3 on page 8. The alphas from this chart are shown just beneath the image of the ensemble of fragments 4Q121, 1-5 found below.
