These four black and white photographs were taken one evening in December of 1972. They were the proofs used for the picture that appeared on the front page of the Dec. 20, 1972 issue of The Evening News. The photographer eventually gave the four proofs to my grandfather. They are reproduced in a smaller size below. If you wish to see a full size copy just click on any of the images below to see its enlargement. The proof photo at the bottom of this page was the one which appeared in the newspaper.
